Çankaya Belediyesi

Çankaya is a JUST4CARE pilot municipality, focusing on Bademlidere as a place to test water resilience, public-space adaptation and inclusive local governance.

Çankaya is the central metropolitan district of Ankara, Türkiye’s capital. The municipality provides urban, social and cultural services and promotes participatory governance, sustainability and inclusive urban development through local policies and projects.

In JUST4CARE, Çankaya implements the Bademlidere pilot through an Urban Living Lab approach. The work aims to transform a natural area into a climate adaptation and social resilience hub, engaging residents in participatory planning and linking public-space adaptation, water resilience and long-term stewardship.

This matters because climate adaptation must be usable and maintainable by the people and institutions who live with it. Çankaya’s pilot helps the project explore how training, participation and local governance can support resilience systems that continue beyond a single intervention.
