NIVA is Norway’s leading research institute for water and the environment. It develops science-based knowledge and solutions for challenges related to water, climate, ecosystems, people, resources and society.
In JUST4CARE, NIVA brings water-related environmental and societal expertise to the project’s learning and replication work. Its contribution is especially relevant for understanding how water-sensitive adaptation, environmental monitoring and governance can support just climate resilience.
This matters because city-level climate policies become real in districts, buildings, streets and services. Józsefváros helps JUST4CARE learn how local public authority, community knowledge and city-wide governance can work together to protect everyday life in a dense and changing neighbourhood.
