Just Climate Adaptation: Putting Vulnerable Communities First

Dates
October 15, 2026 2:00 pm → 3:00 pm
JUST4CARE joins sister projects FairFuture and JustSafe to explore how communities can help shape fairer, more inclusive responses to climate risks.

On 15 October 2026, from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST, BC3 will present JUST4CARE at the webinar Just Climate Adaptation: Putting Vulnerable Communities First. This first joint event brings together three Horizon Europe projects — JUST4CARE, FairFuture and JustSafe — to explore how climate adaptation can better protect people most exposed to climate risks while ensuring they have a meaningful role in the decisions that affect their lives.

Climate change does not affect everyone equally. Exposure to climate risks is shaped by existing social inequalities, access to resources and the conditions of everyday life. Yet the people most affected are often those with the least influence over the decisions intended to protect them.

Three Horizon Europe projects come together to discuss inclusive, community-centred climate adaptation.

Building just resilience through inclusive local action

During the webinar, BC3 will introduce JUST4CARE’s approach to connecting climate-risk assessment with local knowledge, democratic participation and cooperation between cities. Working across Madrid, Çankaya, Budapest and Zagreb, the project seeks to help cities and communities adapt to climate change without reinforcing existing inequalities.

The exchange with FairFuture and JustSafe will provide an opportunity to share approaches, explore common challenges and strengthen cooperation between European projects. All three contribute to the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, bringing together research and community-centred approaches to climate resilience.

By connecting experiences across projects and cities, the webinar aims to advance a shared question: how can climate adaptation become not only more effective, but also fairer, more inclusive and accountable to the communities it is intended to protect?
