The JUST4CARE consortium will hold its Alignment Meeting in Zagreb, Croatia, on 27-28 April 2026. This technical meeting brings together consortium partners to synchronize efforts, refine methodologies, and align strategies that will serve as the foundation for developing just and inclusive climate adaptation tools.
This gathering is essential to ensure that all partners share a common understanding of the project’s core challenges—such as assessing climate risks, integrating justice into adaptation policies, and designing participatory approaches. By aligning around these key issues, the consortium can develop cohesive, replicable solutions that reflect the diverse perspectives and expertise of all partners.
Climate adaptation requires more than technical solutions—it demands coordinated action among cities, researchers, and practitioners. This meeting provides a space for partners to:
- Review and validate the tools and frameworks developed by the project.
- Identify gaps and opportunities in how these tools can be applied across different cities.
- Share insights from each pilot city (Madrid, Ankara, Budapest, and Zagreb) to ensure the tools are adaptable and context-sensitive.
The alignment process will also help the consortium define next steps, ensuring that the project’s outputs—such as the assessment framework—are both scientifically robust and practically useful for cities working to integrate climate justice into their policies.
Over two days, partners will participate in:
- Technical sessions focused on the project’s assessment framework.
- Workshops to refine methodologies for measuring climate vulnerability and adaptation effectiveness.
- Case study discussions on how local pilot can inform broader frameworks.
These sessions are designed to foster collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that all partners contribute to the project’s evolution. The goal is to create tools that are not only technically sound but also equitable and actionable.
The outcomes of this meeting will shape the next phases of JUST4CARE, including the development of training programs and policy recommendations for cities. By aligning now, the consortium ensures that the project’s tools and findings are cohesive, inclusive, and ready for real-world application.
