DOOR: Drustvo za oblikovanje odrzivog razvoja

DOOR supports the Zagreb pilot with expertise in sustainable energy, environment and society, helping connect climate resilience with the needs of older residents.

DOOR is an expert association active in energy and environment, and energy and society, promoting sustainable development through research, advocacy, and practical initiatives.

In JUST4CARE, DOOR will work directly with citizens living in the pilot neighbourhoods of Gornji Grad–Medveščak and Donji Grad. We will primarily address the challenges of procedural justice through questions of public participation of vulnerable communities in decision-making processes related to climate and energy public policies. Through data collection and discussions, perceptions of the importance of distributive justice will also be explored, especially in the context of intergenerational fairness and what we owe to future generations.

In addition, guidelines for local leaders on climate justice criteria and the importance of including justice criteria in public policies will be developed.

This matters because adaptation is shaped by city-wide systems as well as neighbourhood realities. Budapest helps JUST4CARE understand how a capital city can coordinate institutions, evidence and local communities so that climate resilience responds to people who face unequal exposure and fewer resources to adapt.
